History

What Started Argentina?

Argentina was a part of the Spanish empire until independence in 1816. Argentina was experiencing periods of internal political conflict between the conservatives and liberals and between the civilians and the military. A modern agriculture and a diverse industry were then gradually developed thanks to the natural resources and foreign investments.

Europeans are thought to have arrived in the region in 1502 in the voyage of Amerigo Vespucci. The southern inhabitants at that time hunted and fished, while the northwestern Incas were agricultural/technologically advanced, having built a highway before the arrival of the Spanish.
